The Pain STOPS Here: Locoregional Anesthetic Techniques
📅 Saturday, September 27, 2025 🕒 9:30 - 10:20 AM 📍 Vet Tech Theater
Local anesthetic drugs are considered the quintessential analgesic, uniquely capable of blocking 100% of pain perception. Loco-regional anesthetic techniques (nerve blocks) provide a rapid onset of analgesia, work synergistically with other analgesics, and enable reduced inhalant concentrations while improving patient recoveries. Clients have come to expect pain management from veterinary facilities, and adding loco-regional anesthetic techniques can be a simple and profitable way to augment patient care. Numerous loco-regional anesthetic techniques will be discussed, including detailed instructions (via video demonstrations) on how to perform each technique. Some of the techniques discussed include brachial plexus, BIER, RUM (ring), intercostal, intra-articular and intratesticular blocks, epidural analgesia, pain catheters, use of lidocaine patches and much more!
